The one and only ABBA Official Fanclub
The Agnetha Benny Björn Frida Fan Club was founded in 1986 by Anita Notenboom and Helga van de Kar and, over the years, it has turned into the Official International ABBA Fan Club.
From the beginning, the Fan Club produced an ABBA magazine, initially using a regular typewriter, scissors and glue to assemble the pictures and text on the black and white pages. Today, it is a professional magazine that comes in full color with glossy pages and, over the years, numerous interesting stories and interviews have been published. The magazine is included in the Fan Club membership and is sent out four times a year with all the latest news, flashbacks, in-depth stories, a competition and exclusive photos, and there is an annual gift for all members.
Almost from the very start, the Fan Club started to organize annual meetings for ABBA fans. Today, the International ABBA Weekend is the world’s largest and greatest ABBA party. In April every year, hundreds of fans gather in Roosendaal, Netherlands. The programme includes an extensive record and memorabilia fair, a disco, interviews, video shows and sometimes a performance. The exhibitions have included original stage clothes, rare photos, ABBA memorabilia and much more. ABBA-related guests have graced our events and they have performed and/or talked about their work with ABBA, including Görel Hanser, Janne Schaffer, Ulf Andersson, Ingmarie Halling, Owe Sandström, Nanne Grönvall, Benny’s son Ludvig with his band and many more. In 2016, the International Official ABBA Fan Club celebrated its 30th anniversary in Stockholm with a special celebration at ABBA The Museum where Benny paid us a surprised visit and played the piano.
Fan club members also get invitations to attend special events such as opening nights of ABBA-related musicals. All Fan Club members were invited to exclusive previews of ABBAworld and ABBA The Museum.
